PE - Information

In the area of Physical Education, BJH students arrive with a diverse level of skills and concepts. It is our mission to provide a safe, supportive environment where we teach our students to live a healthy, non-sedentary lifestyle by promoting:

  • the awareness of healthy life-style choices
  • the development of each individual’s unique gifts and talents
  • the encouragement of self-confidence, self-discipline, and honesty
  • outside sources through websites that assist in physical and nutritional information outside of school

The success of our program comes when we lead students to productive and satisfying lives in the area of life-long health and fitness.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. My child injured herself at home or is not feeling well what should I do?
If the child is under the care of a physician, she must bring a note to inform us. She will sit out without penalty for the time specified by the doctor. She will need a note releasing her back into PE from the doctor, unless a specific time was listed on the initial note. If a student brings a note from her parent, the note is only good up to three days. Anytime longer than that will require a doctor’s note.

2.     My child has lost her lock,/pe uniform; what should she do?
The student should check the coaches’ office to see if the lock or clothes have been turned in. If the they were not returned, she can rent another lock for $5.00. PE shorts and shirts are also $5.00 each.

3.     My child is hurt during class what should he do?
She should immediately tell the coach and she will assess the situation and see if further attention is required. If deemed serious the coach will contact the school nurse who will handle the situation.

4. My child has asthma or upper respiratory problems what should I do?
The child should have an inhaler in the nurses’ office, and she should take this before PE
Your child receives a weekly participation grade based half on participation in the activity and the other half is on her daily run. Every three weeks we will run a timed mile for a separate grade.
