AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an in-school college-preparation program for grades 7-12. In this class, students are introduced to specific learning strategies that will enhance their reading, writing, and math skills while preparing each individual for college entrance and placement exams. College tutors provide constant instructional support during regularly planned study sessions. Students will also participate in field trips to college campuses and listen to motivational presentations by guest speakers.

  • Do you want to go to college but need help getting there?
  • Are you ready to take advanced classes but need extra support?
AVID can help you learn the skills needed to be successful in school, college, and your future career!

BJH currently has 7th and 8th grade AVID. Students who apply for AVID can stay in the AVID system until 12th grade. If you would like to learn more about the AVID system at BJH, please contact Erica Rodriguez.
