A little information about Miss Harness.

My sister, Becky, is the reason I chose the field of teaching. She is my inspiration. While volunteering numerous hours at my sisters day camps, I found that teaching and helping special needs children is what I was meant to do!

Like a lot of teachers, I worked full time while getting my education. I got my Associates in Arts at College of the Mainland in Texas City and then transferred to Stephen F. Austin State University where I received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Secondary Education with emphasis on Special Education and Journalism.

I was fortunate to get a job in Deer Park at North Campus a few weeks after graduating from SFA(1990). While working full time, I went back to school and earned a Masters in Education from the University of Houston (1992).

I taught at North Campus most of my teaching career, there is no need to leave a great place!  I have taught many different classes for special needs students at North Campus including History, Home Economics, Occupational Investigations, Desktop Publishing, and math.  I also enjoyed being a Volundeer Sponsor and Student Council sponsor for many years.

In 2000, I went back to school, again, to become certified in Technology. I taught Desktop Publishing for many years at North Campus. Many years ago, I  got my certification for ESL.

I then moved schools to teach younger children at Deepwater Elementary where I taught math to students who struggled in math. I loved the young ones and will sure miss them. I had a lot of fun exploring activities that will hopefully help them remember math concepts we learned throughout the couple of years.

I joined Bonnette Jr. High 2013 and can honestly say, "I LOVE being a BOBCAT"!  I had the pleasure of working with a fantastic staff and AWESOME students. I can't wait to continue my journey at Bonnette and continuing to strive to be the best teacher for your son/daughter. This year, I will be co-teaching 6th - 8th grade math classes as well as my own resource classes for 7th/8th grade math class.

Here is to another AMAZING year being a BOBCAT!!!
